RIP to a real one.
Doge, real name Kabosu, has sadly passed away after being diagnosed with leukemia and liver disease. “She quietly passed away as if asleep while I caressed her," wrote Kabosu’s owner in a blog post, per the BBC. “I think Kabo-chan was the happiest dog in the world. And I was the happiest owner.”
The owner believed the dog to be around 18 years old.

While the doge meme started around 14 years ago (time flies, huh?), it’s certainly had a long tail (pun unavoidable). The meme has been a part of countless moments of internet history, ranging from simple image macros to the cryptocurrency boom, where the dog became the face of Dogecoin.
