She’s not a regular mom, she’s a 'boy mom.'
A recent Instagram reel of the aftermath of a high school football game has the internet in a tizzy. The video shows a woman straddling a teen football player in an off-ground bear hug. He puts her down and the video cuts to a woman announcing, “That's not his girlfriend, that’s his mom.”
Um. Ok.

Does anyone NOT think this is weird? pic.twitter.com/uFvtJHIYFg
The original post made by @ambslund did not help those who felt weird about the embrace.
“This boy will forever and always have my entire heart…When I walked up to hug my baby boy after his game, he immediately picked me up and just held me,” the football mom’s caption reads. “It may have been 20 seconds, 30 seconds, a minute, I have no idea. But in this moment, time stood completely still.”
Can’t stop thinking about a post I recently saw on insta where a bunch of boy moms described raising their sons as the “longest breakup of your life.”

Still is making my skin crawl tbh. Do we need a public service campaign explaining to boy moms that they aren’t in fact dating… https://t.co/so1KUXUbqh
The football mom’s original post does bring up an important lens to judge boy moms. Like the popular “girl dads,” boy moms are women who prefer having sons and treat their sons like mini partners.
While @ambslund’s comments were filled with disturbed viewers, others on social media found the backlash to the video more inappropriate. What porn-ladden brain can’t see a kid hugging his mother as anything but innocent?
“Y’all were not hugged or loved on by your parents. So when you see affection between parents and their child, you sexualize it. I urge y’all to go to therapy and touch grass,” says @kiaraimanii_esq
Whichever way you view this, this kid’s probably not gonna hear the end of this at school.
