Despite Tennessee’s Lieutenant Governor Randy McNally’s notable hatred of drag performers and pretty much everything under the LGBTQ+ umbrella, he has *quite* the soft spot for gay thirst traps.

Over the past several weeks, McNally found time amid his busy schedule of making homophobic remarks, getting confused for a map and somehow managing to unite the RuPaul’s Drag Race fandom — a task once thought to be impossible — to be extremely horny on main, dropping several steamy comments on a 20-year-old model Franklyn McClur’s sexy selfies.

Though McNally usually kept it simple, leaving heart and/or flame emojis on the young Knoxvillian’s posts, the lawmaker often took his affections to Boomer-y heights, writing some of the horniest Southern grandpa comments known to man. “Great picture, Finn!” he wrote, referencing McClur’s nickname, on one of his NSFW snaps back in November. “Best wishes for continued health and happiness.”

“Finn, you can turn a rainy day into rainbows and sunshine!” he added on another snap of McNally posing in a tight pair of underwear.

Yep. Nothing homoerotic to see here.

Despite making headlines for his evident appreciation of McClurr’s content, the politician won’t be shying away from his keyboard any time soon.

“Trying to imply something sinister or inappropriate about a great-grandfather’s use of social media says more about the mind of the left-wing operative making the implication than it does about Randy McNally,” Adam Kleinheider, the politician’s spokesperson told The Tennessean, nothing that his boss “takes great pains to view every post he can and frequently posts encouraging things to many of his followers,” including random hot dudes in his jurisdiction.

“Does he always use the proper emoji at the proper time? Maybe not, but he enjoys interacting with constituents and Tennesseans of all religions, backgrounds and orientations on social media,” Kleinheider continued. “He has no intention of stopping.”

Despite this controversy, McClur, who is openly gay, has taken the lawmaker’s apparent affections in stride, commending him for his continued support.

“I just thought he was older and out-of-touch,” he told the Holler, a local left-wing news outlet, adding that he had “always taken it as a compliment.”

“I don’t dislike him or think he’s a bad person, he’s one of the only people who has consistently uplifted me and made me feel good.”

UPDATE 3/10/23: On Thursday, March 9, McNally addressed the allegations head-on, appearing in a sit-down interview with local Nashville CBS affiliate, WTVF, where in addition to apologizing to his friends and family, he provided a series of bizarre answers when asked about certain posts he’d liked.

"I don't know that, a lot of times on some people's posts you see the name and you see what they've written, and you just press the button that says like,” he explained when pressed about a post he liked in which McClur described himself as a “hoe” instead of a “whore” as he’s  "the one that gets free weed for giving head.”

"I don't recall reading the part about the weed, I know that," an increasingly sweaty McNally continued when grilled about his controversial thumbs up, adding that he “might have read” the prostitute remark.

So here's to Randy embodying his name, a joke that would be *super* funny if he like, you know, didn't lowkey hate gay people.
