A teacher in Japan was fired for doing the unthinkable. No, not that. The teacher, who was based in Okayama Prefecture, was spotted *gasp* working a second job!

Oh, right, *every* teacher does that here.

Basically, this teacher was discovered working at a convenience store in the off-hours. This was a problem because, in Japan, it’s relatively common to have a labor exclusivity clause in your contract — as in, a clause that states, “If you work here, you can’t work another job at the same time.”

People secretly working five remote jobs, it’s your biggest nightmare!

Why do they do this? The idea is usually that your boss wants you fully focused on your main job. Side gigs are seen as draining your time and energy, or maybe even making customers think you’re not 100 percent committed to doing your best work.

The teacher has since apologized and announced his plans to resign, and the Okayama City Board of Education put out a statement that read, “We deeply apologize for the great distress and worry that has been caused to the children, their guardians and all the residents of the city.”

Listen, all that happened was that a few kids saw their teacher at a convenience store — I’m sure they’ll be fine!
