An X/Twitter user is calling out Toyota after claiming that the company was “responsible for my dad’s sudden death.”
Toyota (yes, the car company) is responsible for my dad’s sudden death. They’re not who you think they are. If you think they care for their employees, you’re wrong. They’re just numbers.

A thread.
Yes, I’m exposing my personal issues. But I’m sick of staying quiet. pic.twitter.com/PoG5Fn6XnS
In an emotional thread, the man says that his father, a man named Diego Garcia, was killed as a result of an accident at the company’s Georgetown, Kentucky plant. News reports verify this information.
“We are working closely and cooperating fully with all agencies and investigations into the incident,” Toyota officials said in a statement at the time. “Words cannot express our sadness for our fellow team member, and our deepest sympathies go to his loved ones.”
However, if this X/Twitter user is to be believed, the company didn’t cooperate as much as they would like one to believe.

. How could this happen? How could a manufacturing plant that prides itself in employee safety, let this happen? How in the world could they let it happen and not hold themselves accountable? We asked this multiple times. They’re greedy. And they’re shameless.

. My mom has fought and fought to have Toyota held accountable. Instead, they destroy evidence, withhold video footage, and tell my mom that his “health insurance would run out at 12am”. Employees at Toyota are numbers, not “family” like they enjoy preaching.

At one point in the thread, the user accuses the company of “destroy[ing] evidence” and “withhold[ing] video footage” along with showing a general lack of compassion throughout the grieving process.
Other users soon hopped in to share their own Toyota experiences.
In 1999 my girlfriend's dad (an immigrant from Durango) dropped dead while working at the Toyota plant (now a Tesla plant). They did NOTHING for his family, it was horrific. She was 17 and he was her closest family member. She committed suicide in 2004.

Still so sorry for your loss. I remember instead of canceling 2nd shift, they made us work. I showed up, and was forced to work along with the other 2nd shift people. We had heard news, but that was it. It was awful and still awful today. This needs to be shared.

While OP hasn’t made many of the specifics clear, he claimed in one post that he and his family have been “legally fighting this for a year.” Here’s hoping the family gets justice — lord knows Toyota’s associated with enough bad stuff already.
