Have you heard about “smart rings”? If you’re still wearing an Apple Watch, you’re missing out — the new thing isn’t measuring all of your vital signs via your wrist, but instead wearing a massive, uncomfortable ring that does the same thing. Isn’t that cool?

Some people read that last sentence without any sarcasm and agreed. And so, they, like many others, bought a smart ring — and now, it might be stuck on their finger.

A user on X recently reported that they were denied boarding from a flight because the battery on their Samsung smart ring randomly expanded. The user subsequently had to go to the hospital to get the ring safely removed.

This user isn’t the first either. On Reddit, there are numerous stories of people using their smart rings only for the battery to suddenly expand. In case you weren’t aware, swollen batteries are prone to explosion, which you really don’t want happening on your finger.

I think if you have a smart ring, you should probably ditch it and switch to another smart device — or, get ready to say goodbye to your fingers.
