It’s a battle for the ages — and like all good conflicts, it’s taking place in a suburban parking lot.

This past Sunday, police were called to a Nebraska Home Depot after it was reported that someone was “wilding out” in a skid-loader (my words, not theirs). “According to [the Lincoln Police Department], the incident started at 2:30 p.m. when a man transported the skid-steer loader to the U-Stop near South 73rd and Pine Lake Road,” reads a piece in 10/11 Now. “He then got into the loader and caused damage to several vehicles at the U-Stop and a nearby parking lot.”

After damaging these vehicles, the man continued his rampage through the parking lot before being met by police. You can guess what happened next — he slammed right into their cop car.

Eventually, the police officer managed to get out of the car and, joined by other officers wielding guns, arrested the suspect.

The man in question is Samuel Peyrot, 36, from Lincoln, Nebraska. This revelation surprised many — for example, his girlfriend Kelly Effle, who told KETV that he “would never have done these things” under normal circumstances.

According to Effle, Peyrot had begun acting strangely just after midnight on Sunday. Concerned, she called the police, who took Peyrot to the hospital. While there, he was “treated with a saline solution IV and sent home three hours later,” per KETV.

This apparently did not fix the issue, which Effle says could have been caused by “a combination of his prescription drugs and four days of no sleep due to his job removing snow as a contractor,” summarizes KETV.

Regardless of why he did it, Peyrot has now been charged with second-degree assault, second-degree assault on an officer and criminal mischief. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Nebraska needs to chill.
