Several Hawaii-bound passengers’ tropical vacation got off to a very bumpy start after a ‘hard landing’ at Maui’s Kahului Airport left six hospitalized.

An American Airlines flight out of Los Angeles International Airport underwent what one purported passenger dubbed the “roughest plane landing ever” on Saturday afternoon, one so rough it not only left passengers screaming, but five flight attendants and one traveler facing injuries.

Though the aircraft, an Airbus A320, ultimately “taxied to the gate under its own power and customers deplaned normally,” a spokesperson for American Airlines told CNN, the plane was “taken out of service for inspection by our maintenance team.”

“The safety of our customers and team members is our top priority,” the carrier said of the incident, one the FAA plans on investigating.

But hey, look on the bright side: At least all the airplane doors — and passengers’ shirts — are still somehow intact.
