Senators Are Complaining That Their Flights Are Delayed Because of the Shutdown
Really makes you want to do something about that, huh?

As our government celebrates over 30 days of shutdown, its impact on our everyday lives is getting clearer by the minute. Furloughed federal workers haven’t been paid and can’t cover their bills. SNAP recipients are concerned that their benefits, which they rely on to eat, will be suddenly cut off. And essential federal workers are being asked to work without pay — which has caused many of them to mysteriously “call in sick,” slowing things down for everyone.
Some of those essential workers happen to be airport staff, which explains why flying has been miserable this month. Among the group complaining about this the most are senators — you know, the people responsible for this in the first place!
As reported by The Hill, senators claim that the shutdown has left them “stranded” in our nation’s capital. These delays are typically short — Republican Senate Majority Leader John Thune griped that he was delayed by a single day. Despite this, members of Congress apparently don’t see the issue with complaining about all the problems that they are currently causing.
At least they can solve this problem by working, even if the chances of them actually doing that are slim.
