One female sea otter in Santa Cruz, California, has violated Jonah Hill’s boundaries — and a whole lot of surfers' personal space, harassing them and kayakers hitting the water at famed point break, Steamer Lane.

On her mission to catch some sweet, sweet waves, the 5-year-old mammal has started snatching surfboards from unsuspecting surfers — as seen in a recent viral video — using her newfound equipment to hang ten, or in some cases, enjoy as an extremely chewy snack, habits that have made her Twitter’s latest darling.

“‘Aggressive sea otter’ how about you get your ass outta [her] home?” @JPens4Real21 commented on a video of surfing’s latest star.
“First the orcas, now sea otters. The ocean is fighting back,” added @MosheIsaacian.
“I can respect her as long as she doesn’t post pics of herself surfing,” joked @beckyonthebrink, referencing Hill’s allegedly rigid rules for his surf-instructor ex.
Despite the internet’s collective support for its favorite surfing marine mammal — let women have hobbies, goddamnit — some experts say her penchant for riding the waves may have some less-than-radical implications about her well-being. “It is cute. I can’t deny that. I don’t want to be the fun police,” Kevin Connor of the Monterey Bay Aquarium explained to the Washington Post, before in fact flashing his fun police badge and noting that our girl appears to be “missing some of her really critical survival instincts.”

So it’s probably fair to say that for this totally tubular otter, surfing has now become a matter of life or death.
