Talk about getting ready for the job!
Mountain rescue is no joke. Much like caves, mountains seem designed by the big man upstairs to tell us to “stay the hell away.” Of course, our hubris commands that we ignore such obvious warnings, and so, millions of people use their free time on this earth to scale mountains, go skiing and do everything they want to in places where they may literally struggle to breathe.
As a result, most major mountain ranges have rescue teams ready to go for times in which people can’t get themselves back down the mountain. One rescue team in Slovakia was training for such an incident when they were suddenly struck with an avalanche.
Thankfully, everyone was fine — and the team now knows what it feels like to shit yourself at 10,000 feet!
