Last year, @chef.pii brought her pink-colored sauce to the world thanks to TikTok. Her sauce quickly went viral and later was available for purchase on the shelves of Walmart. However, now the pink sauce creator is claiming that she has not been properly compensated for her ultra-viral, and sometimes not-so-pink condiment.
Pink Sauce creator Chef Pii has started a GoFundMe, claiming she has been ‘financially sabotaged.’

@chef.pii, whose real name is Veronica Shaw created a GoFundMe page attempting to raise $100,000. Shaw was previously shipping the sauce herself — which raised a lot of questions about food safety. In January, Shaw partnered with Dave’s Gourmet, a distributing company that sells hot sauce and pasta sauce, and together, they made sure then Pink Sauce was shelf stable.

Shaw claims that partnering with Dave’s Gourmet was a mistake and released a statement saying:
“[Dave’s Gourmet] lied to me. They are not paying me and are not being transparent about records,” she wrote in the GoFundMe description. “I have tried on multiple occasions to try and come to one accord with them but they refuse to reimburse me for marketing expenses that I spent my own funds towards.”
In the GoFundMe description, Shaw states that she is currently facing eviction and she is unable to clothe and feed her children. Currently, $1,021 has been raised for Shaw’s fund.
In a statement from Dave’s Gourmet, the company has refuted the claims that Shaw has not been compensated for her product.
"Dave's Gourmet has paid Chef Pii over $120,000 to date and it continues to make all payments as due and on time based upon the terms of the contract," reads their statement to Insider.
Who knew the sauce controversy of last summer would still be fresh. At least, fresher than the bottles of Pink Sauce currently on Walmart shelves.
