The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards featured many memorable moments and deserving winners. Of course any event that features winners will have some losers too, and one show in particular has grown all too accustomed to losing. Better Call Saul lost in all four of its nominations last night, meaning that over the course of the show’s six season run it has been nominated 46 times, and never won. The internet was understandably outraged.
Better Call Saul was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series with Bob Odenkirk, Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series with Rhea Seehorn, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. It lost to Succession, Julia Garner, and Lee Jung-jae.
Memes using the Chicanery Copypasta format came flooding in, using a moment in season 3 where the character Chuck McGill loses it while being questioned.
Seeing as season six was the last installment of Better Call Saul, it is an absolute travesty that a show so beloved and critically acclaimed will have never landed an Emmy. What a sick joke!
