Sorry hot girls and Chet Hanks – this year is all about awkward dude summer if TikTok’s thirst posts are any indication.
Over the past several months, the “awkward guy” trope has entered a renaissance – one not seen since the Michael Cera heyday of the late aughts – with creators hitting the platform in droves detailing just how down bad they are for men with questionable social skills.
“Me after I saw the nerdiest and most awkward man in existence who probably hasn’t had any experience with a woman before,” TikTok creator Ruby Kat captioned her recent viral clip, one depicting her flaunting a massive smile.
Ruby is far from alone in her attraction to awkward men. Alongside several comments hyping up their similar appreciation for awkward dudes – “Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker,” wrote @Nay, “bonus points if has glasses,” added @M – and others noting their surprising fuckboi abilities – “and then they have the audacity to ghost you,” added @jenny – others shared their appreciation in their own viral posts.
“There’s going to be socially awkward men at the function,” TikToker @nleboogieman captioned their capcut clip, depicting them emerging from a helicopter and popping out of a mango at the promise of odd dudes.
“Awkward boys >>>” wrote @fieldsterr in their viral clip from February 2022.
Nathan Fielder, if there was ever a time for you to find your wife, it’d be now.
