Organized Crime Gangs in Australia Are Stealing Meat, Then Reselling It to Restaurants
A sillier country results in sillier crime.

Australia has a problem: People keep stealing meat. According to the government, however, this isn’t just a few people fed up with high beef prices — instead, it’s a coordinated gang effort to lift steaks and then resell them to restaurants.
According to The Australian, these gangs have somehow infiltrated the supply chain of popular grocery stores. As a result, they’ve been able to sneak off with a whole bunch of steak, and rather than cook it up for themselves, they’ve managed to develop deals with local restaurants in order to sell it to them for a lower price.
Of course, this results in lower restaurant steak prices for the consumer, which, during a cost-of-living crisis, isn’t the worst thing — but as we got there through “crime,” the government says that this isn’t really a laughing matter.
Now, they’re investigating both how this happened and how they can stop it. So if you’re Australian and have been enjoying some low-priced steak, better eat it while you still can!
