The police apparently weren’t too happy about that viral video of one of their own getting rinsed on a children’s slide. As a result, they seem to be exacting their revenge on internet users, starting with fans of streamer Kai Cenat.

For those who are unaware, Cenat is a streamer who recently promised to do a massive giveaway in New York’s Union Square Park. Per CNN, the streamer “said they would be giving away computers, PlayStation 5s, microphones, keyboards, webcams, gaming chairs, headphones and giftcards from a truck in Union Square.”

Somehow, telling 6.5 million Twitch followers that you planned on giving away free PS5s didn’t exactly go well for Cenat. Massive crowds came to Union Square, each person in search of some free goodies. Instead, they were met by police.

While the crowd was largely peaceful, the NYPD reacted the only way they knew how: by overreacting. “The crowds spurred the NYPD to activate a ‘Level 4’ response, its highest level of disaster response,” reads the aforementioned CNN article. If you believe the NYPD (which you absolutely should not), people also began “walking around with shovels, axes and other tools from the construction” and “individuals were also lighting fireworks, throwing them toward the police, they were throwing them toward each other.”

So if that’s why the police were freaking out, then what happened here?

In this video first posted by freelance photojournalist Bruce Schaff, then reposted by Dexerto, someone can be seen slowly walking away from a yellow taxi. After a second, the police grab the man and slam him against the taxi with such force that the back window shatters. Yes, that’s his face causing the glass to shatter, not the cop’s hand.

Naturally, the crowd lets out a loud “OHHHHH!” as all of this goes down.

In quote tweets, Twitter users weren’t too happy about the cops slamming the dude’s head through glass.

Cenat himself was later taken in for questioning by police, and apparently, they may charge him with inciting a riot.

Honestly, this whole thing is a mess. Should Cenat have gotten a permit before doing this? Yes. Does that justify a cop forcing a kid’s head through a windshield? No. But hey, we can disagree. I’m just wondering what happened to those PS5s.
