As the Miami-Dade County State Attorney's Office mounts its case against OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney, more evidence revealing the nature of her relationship with her boyfriend, who she is accused of stabbing to death, is coming to light. Most recently, a cellphone video showing Clenney repeatedly hitting Christian Obumseli has been released following a public records request from Obumseli’s family.
Speaking to WPLG Local 10, the Obumseli family’s attorney said, “She consistently is this volatile, agitated individual when she’s triggered, and we see Christian again being the victim.” The video was recorded in February 2022 in Aspen, Colorado, two months before Clenney, who goes by Courtney Tailor online, would be arrested and charged with second-degree murder following the fatal stabbing of Obumseli in their apartment.
In the video, Clenney can be seen hitting Obumseli over a dozen times while shouting, “I was sober for two weeks — two weeks. And now why am I not sober? It’s because of you.” She also accuses Obumseli of cheating on her, which he denies. Numerous bottles of alcohol can be seen in the footage.
According to police, Clenney has admitted to fatally stabbing Obumseli, but her defense lawyers told NBC Miami in July 2023 that Clenney was a victim of domestic violence acting in self-defense. “We are mounting a vigorous defense for Courtney,” explained attorney Frank Prieto. “Many defense witnesses will testify that she was the victim of domestic violence and that the actions she took were to save her own life.”
The prosecution agrees that the stabbing was an incident of domestic violence, but that Clenney was the perpetrator, not the victim. Obumseli’s family has since filed a wrongful death suit against Clenney as well as the management company that oversees the condo in which the stabbing took place.
Clenney had previously been arrested for domestic battery in July 2021 in Las Vegas after throwing a glass at Obumseli during an argument. Per the police report, Clenney also admitted to throwing things at Obumseli before that incident.
Both the criminal and civil trials involving Clenney are ongoing, and she is being held in jail without bond as the criminal case continues.
