A recent screening of Jennifer Lawrence’s summer comedy No Hard Feelings appeared to have sparked all the hard feelings after a dispute over a movie theater seat left one dead and the alleged shooter injured in an Albuquerque, New Mexico movie theater last weekend.
On Sunday, June 25, 19-year-old Enrique Padilla allegedly shot Michael Tenorio amid a fight over seats at the Cinemark Century Rio, a conflict that only intensified despite efforts from theater staff, per NBC News. At one point during the argument, Padilla, who attending the show with his girlfriend, purportedly tossed a popcorn bucket at Tenorio’s wife, Trina Tenorio, a gesture that evoked a “What the hell?” and a shove into a wall from the 52-year-old.

Following the push, Padilla allegedly fired “several shots” toward Tenorio, prompting the theater to evacuate. Tenorio collapsed and despite CPR efforts from an off-duty police officer who also attended the showing, was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

Though Padilla and his girlfriend both fled the scene, the teen was discovered "hiding behind a bush outside of an emergency exit at the theater," with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was later charged with murder, shooting at a dwelling or occupied building as well as tampering with evidence.
Save it for Barbenheimer.
