Though one Psych fan may have meant to show their love for the iconic detective dramedy with a pineapple tattoo covering the majority of their calf, they found themselves accidentally sending a very different message with their new ink — one apparently proclaiming they’re a swinger.
Redditor u/DmMeYourRightTit took a break from begging the entire site to send nudes to ask r/tattooadvice for tips on covering their fresh tattoo, one depicting a large pineapple underneath a banner reading “I Know, You Know,” the title of the series’ theme song.
this is, unfortunately, the funniest thing that has ever happened to anyone pic.twitter.com/ZSiMfD9G4q

“Long story short, it’s a Psych™ reference that I just love, but more than that it’s 100% a swinger thing,” they began their now-viral post, adding in an “Oop” for good measure.
“Didn’t realize it at the time, and my heart goes out to swingers, but sadly I’m not part of the lifestyle,” they continued. “Any help? Thinking of keeping the pineapple, but the words just need to go, unfortunately.”
While u/ ImChz suggested amputation as the only plausible solution —”not worth the trouble tbh,” they wrote, “just cut it off and start over,” — u/Relevant-Ad8794 decided to spare the bone saw, instead, proposing a new SpongeBob SquarePants-themed concept for the unfortunate ink.
“Just change the text,” they added “Top Text: MA HOY Bottom Text: MINOY”
u/MGermanicus, however, proposed a different approach to revising the tattoo — adding a massive, fine-print disclaimer.
“Get a tattoo next to it that says "This a reference to the popular television series "Psych," which aired on USA Network from 2006-2014,’” they began. “‘The pineapple is reference from this show and a favorite of mine, hence the tattoo. I only recently became aware that pineapples, usually inverted, are a common symbol to denote one's self as a “swinger.”
I myself have chosen to be monogamous and therefore this pineapple is not an indication of my participation in the swinger lifestyle. Rather, I am a fan of the popular USA Network series Psych which ran from 2006-2014.’"
But hey, maybe the real solution is to lean the f—k in: As u/The-SkinnyP so aptly noted, it “might just be easier (and cheaper) to become a swinger.”
