Live Nation CEO Says You Should Be Paying Even More for Concert Tickets

Oh thanks, there weren’t enough things emptying my wallet already.

If you’ve tried to buy concert tickets lately, congratulations, you’re already ready for an eternity in Hell. Doing so is absolutely miserable, from the long digital lines filled with bots, to high prices, to the countless fees they end up tacking onto your order. You can see a $40 concert ticket, then easily end the transaction having paid over $100.

What gives?

Well, according to the CEO of Live Nation, you’re actually not overpaying — in fact, you’re underpaying.

Speaking at CNBC Sport and Boardroom’s Game Plan Conference on Tuesday, Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said that, when you compare concert tickets to sports tickets, they’re actually not that bad. Newsflash, buddy — sports tickets are *also* too expensive!

“In sports, I joke it’s like a badge of honor to spend [$70,000] for Knicks courtside,” Rapino said. “When you read about the ticket prices going up, it’s still an average concert price [of] $72. Try going to a Laker game for that, and there’s 80 of them [in a season].”

First, it’s not a badge of honor, it’s insanity. Second, I think I speak for everyone here when I say please shut up. Third, here’s an idea: make *everything* cheaper. If you’re looking for a way to do that, you can just take the money from the $139 million paycheck you cashed in 2022.
