A gender reveal ended in disaster last Saturday after an airplane spewing pink smoke crashed into a field in San Pedro, Mexico. The pilot, who was identified as Luis Ángel “N,” per The Hill, was pulled from the airplane and transported to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Though it’s unclear what exactly caused the crash, the plane’s wing appeared to detach before spiraling to the ground in a harrowing viral video depicting the incident, one that quickly went viral on Twitter.

But beyond sparking the typical discourse on whether gender reveals are actually that serious, several lauded the dad-to-be, who was evidently so excited to learn of his new daughter that he remained entirely oblivious to the deadly crash mere meters away.
“This dude is so in love with his wife he doesn't even notice the screams and deadly immolation 100 feet away from him,” observed @LegoRacers2, dubbing the ordeal as the “most romantic thing I've ever seen.”
“The couple not even paying attention to the crashed airplane is quite something,” added @amandalhu.
“This video is not funny whatsoever but everybody not even realizing whats going on and cheering afterwards got me in a BLENDER rn,” wrote @Cindtrillella.
So take it from this couple and their predecessors, whose gender reveal lit a massive wildfire in Arizona back in 2017 — sometimes it’s best to open a gosh darn envelope.
In 2017, a border patrol agent also caused a fire in Arizona with his gender reveal stunt and they got the whole thing on tape. The Sawmill Fire burned 47,000 acres of public land and took 800 firefighters to put out.
