Amid all the strange conventions of Yorgos Lanthimos’s upcoming Poor Things, Emma Stone portraying a reanimated corpse, Mark Ruffalo receiving a spectacular bitch slap, and the LaLa Land alum’s uncanny resemblance to Lorde (Randy Marsh could never), one detail managed to upstage the upcoming flick’s latest batch of teasers – a massive window shaped like a penis.
Earlier this week, a new still from the forthcoming Searchlight film – an adaptation of Alasdair Gray’s eponymous 1992 novel – made the rounds on Twitter. Featuring Stone in character as Bella Baxter, a Frankenstein-like character that is somehow both her own mother and daughter, the photo quickly amassed millions of views thanks, in part, to the apparently Art-Nouveau-inspired cock window looming in the periphery.

Quickly earning the very fitting moniker of “dick window,” the snap quickly went viral as several Twitter users verbalized the sentiments on everyone’s lips – namely, “Huh?” and “Holy mother of Freud.”

Though it’s unclear whether or not this phallic inclusion was an intentional part of its design – a sentiment that most definitely can not be applied to the 16ft dick monster in Ari Aster’s Beau is Afraid – one thing is certain: Dicks apparently look really good when imagined in the style of the Paris Metro.
So aspiring filmmakers, take it from Lanthimos – the best way to market your film is to sneak a giant dick-shaped prop into the background of your marketing materials. If it’s good enough for the dude The Little Mermaid (well, sorta) it’s good enough for us.
