Just when you think you’ve seen everything, someone posts photos of a group of Amish men playing basketball in a city park. One Twitter user posted photos of the link-up recently with the caption, “Indiana kinda cool sometimes. Some Amish hoopers pulled up to an inner city park yesterday and gave them that work,” and based on what we can see in the photos, they really did impress.

They looked so in their element, in fact, that many people were in disbelief that these guys had never watched a basketball game on TV. One Twitter user joked, “If they did a step back they have TV,” while another added, “Zechariah rolling up doing Kyrie dribbles.”
Others were impressed they were playing in their usual Amish clothes despite the heat. “The fact that they ain’t even bother to put on shorts makes this more hilarious,” one person wrote in awe. Someone else suggested they “raised a barn after to cool down.”
Weirdly, these guys aren’t the only Amish dudes into basketball. Last year, TLC’s Return to Amish featured a man named Kenneth Detweiler who dreamed of becoming a big basketball star, and had to wrestle with the decision to stay true to his roots or leave his home and pursue his dreams. While he hasn’t made a name for himself in the basketball world yet, signs suggest he has left home.
As for these guys, this has all the makings of a heartwarming movie about people from vastly different walks of life brought together purely by sheer love of the game. Coming to a theater near you, summer 2027.
