Insiders Now Claim the ‘Coldplay Couple’ Weren’t Having an Affair At All

And I’m sure that’s what they both told their partners.

Remember the couple who was caught having an affair at a Coldplay concert? It was a glorious time to be on the internet — a moment where people across the aisle held hands in order to perform a collective “lol” at two people who are richer than we’ll ever be.

The reaction to that story was swift. Both people left their roles at the company, and Coldplay got a lot more careful about who they put on the fancam.

However, now, there’s an interesting new wrinkle to the story. While it was initially reported that *both* the then-Astronomer CEO and HR executive (Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, respectively) were cheating on their partners, new reports claim that it was only Byron who was technically having an affair. Also, maybe he wasn’t having an affair, either. Maybe.

Basically, insiders told The Times that Cabot had already separated from, and was in divorce proceedings with, her husband at the time of the concert. Not only that, but the husband was actually at the Coldplay concert already — with another date. The source claims that Cabot couldn’t say anything about it at the time because she felt doing so would hurt the divorce proceedings.

“Kristin wasn’t hiding, she doesn’t know why she ducked. She knew it was inappropriate to behave that way with her boss as the head of HR,” the source said.

What about Byron? According to the source, it’s the same story — Byron had *also* separated from his wife by the time of the concert and was living apart from her, though they hadn’t filed for divorce. This means that Byron and Cabot’s embrace, though probably going afoul of company rules, wasn’t technically cheating.

So, do we believe this?

That’s kind of up to you. While the story sounds plausible-ish, the source also claimed that Byron and Cabot weren’t on a date at the time and were instead just good friends and working partners. If that’s the case, you’re going to need to explain why the heck they were holding each other like that.

Not really a “friend” hug, IMO!
