Between the impending dangers of climate change, big Australian spiders, and whatever the hell is going on with the Dalai Lama, the world is a weird and often terrifying place.
But how scary is it? Earlier this week, Redditor u/DeezCrazyMan set to find out, taking to r/AskReddit with his burning inquiry. “What are some really dangerous things most people don't realize are dangerous?” they wrote in a post that garnered more than 32,000 upvotes.
Shortly after posting, u/DeezCrazyMan got their answer — pretty much everything.
“This is super vague but I think a lot of people often underestimate the dangers of water,” wrote u/ Mxmccc. “Like the power of a river or sea current, water on the road, slipping in the shower, etc.”
It seems u/ Mxmccc is far from alone in these fears – roads are also a less-than-ideal locale for water, as u\darkpaladin noted. ”A few inches of moving water over a roadway,” they added.
But it’s not just the forces of nature – as u/Mxmccc alluded, some threats are looming inside your home. “Walking up or down the stairs, the most common accident at home is falling down the stairs,” added Elementus94.
Chairs, too, pose quite the hazard.
“Metal folding chairs,” quipped u/IndividualPlate8255. “I knew someone who lost some fingers when one slammed shut on their hand.”
Beyond the risks of folding chairs, it seems a delicious citrus snack can also serve as a major life-threatening danger.
“Eating grapefruit while on medication,” shared u/rankyweasels. “Grapefruit has so many bad interactions with medication ranging from rendering the medication ineffective, to toxicity.”
If you need us, we’ll be busy moving the eBaum’s World HQ into a padded room.
