Of all the heartbreaks that come with being a Chicagoan — braving -50 temperatures and getting roasted for the way we pronounce our A’s – none are quite as harrowing as weathering season after season as a fan of the Chicago Bears, a lesson a young football fan recently learned the hard way.

In a new, viral Reddit clip, the young fan finds himself screaming and crying in an (entirely justified) meltdown upon discovering he would spend the entire season — if not his life — rooting for “the Bleakest Team in Recent NFL History.”

“I’m getting frustrated!” he screamed before ripping his Bears sweatshirt off over his beet-red, tear-stained face and throwing it onto the floor. Though at first he stormed away in anger, he quickly returned with a revelation.

“The Bears are the worst!” he yelled.

But hey kid, as a lifelong Bears fan, I’m here to tell you that it’s okay. There’s always next year … at least that’s what we’ve been telling ourselves every year since 1986.
