Guess has been forced to close its London Regent Street location, after the anonymous graffiti artist Banksy encouraged his fans to shoplift from the store. Banksy took to Instagram, claiming that Guess’s new lineup of clothes featuring his artwork was produced without his permission and that if they can take his artwork without asking, people should be able to take their clothes.
Following the post, Guess closed down and shuttered their store, removing the display window featuring the new clothes and artwork. The new clothing line comes as a partnership between Guess and Brandalised, a company that works with anonymous artists, and apparently does have a license to sell Banksy’s work.

It is unclear what will come of this dispute, but maintaining anonymity is a difficult task when confronted with legal battles. In the meantime, the entire 34-piece clothing collection is still for sale online while the store remains closed.
