Rat Hole fever just won’t stop — and no, that’s not the name of the venereal disease your grandfather brought back from World War II.
The meme of Chicago’s Rat Hole has endured far longer than anyone could have expected. Now, it’s seen something remarkable: a wedding.
As reported by the Chicago Sun-Times, local resident Raj Sarathy knew that he and his partner wanted to get married at an “iconic Chicago monument.” However, given that one of Chicago’s most famous monuments is a wall that spits on you, they decided to trade vows somewhere a little more humble — specifically, the rat hole.

Planning for the wedding began just nine days before the reception, but according to Sarathy, everything managed to go pretty well. “It just felt right,” he told the Sun-Times. “I didn’t really care what other people thought about it.”

Refusing to let the bit die, Sarathy also claimed that their honeymoon would see them traveling to some of the “rattiest” cities in the world, as “he finds rats cute and thinks they have an undeserved bad reputation,” summarizes the Sun-Times.
Personally, I wish them all the best, and I hope they enjoy their vacation in… Whoops, never mind — looks like you boys are staying in Chicago!
