Fruit of the Loom Really Wants You To Stop Asking Whether Their Logo Had a Cornucopia

It didn’t.

Last week, the Fruit of the Loom “Mandela effect” went viral once again. If you’re unfamiliar, the meme claims that the Fruit of the Loom logo used to have a cornucopia. Now, it does not — proving that we’ve either entered an alternate timeline in which the Fruit of the Loom logo is different, or that the company is just gaslighting us into thinking there was never a cornucopia at all.

Of course, there was never a cornucopia in the Fruit of the Loom logo. No one’s ever found a single piece of evidence showing one, and anyone who swears they’ve seen it is probably just blending their memory of the logo with the *other* times they see illustrations of bunches of fruit and vegetables — for example, Thanksgiving, which is rife with cornucopia imagery.

But, if you’re a true believer in this meme, Fruit of the Loom has a message: please stop emailing them about it.

In a statement posted to their website, the company said plainly, “the cornucopia has never been a part of the Fruit of the Loom® logo.”

But what about the patent? That’s the main “smoking gun” many point to in order to show that the logo really did contain a cornucopia, as the word “cornucopia” in the description. However, no actual image of a cornucopia is shown in the patent, and as the company explains, such descriptions are “assigned by a USPTO Trademark Examiner (not Fruit of the Loom), to make images more searchable in the total USPTO database that houses all US trademark records.”

All other “evidence” you see, either of old logos or tags with a cornucopia, is either an edited photo or a knockoff product.

Sorry to be a buzzkill, but the Fruit of the Loom logo never had a cornucopia, and you should probably stop emailing the company about it. Now, let me relax by watching my favorite movie: Shazam, starring Sinbad.
