There’s a reason why so many children’s toys are based around construction sites: they’re fun. Yes, they’re incredibly dangerous as well, but you can’t tell me that you wouldn’t love to spend an afternoon picking up and dropping things with a crane.

Unfortunately, if you actually get a construction job, your work involves a lot more “work” than just flattening cars with a bulldozer. Still, you might get the opportunity to play around a bit, as this person clearly did.

In the video above, someone in an excavator gives an airplane a second life. While it may not fly on its own anymore, it is now afforded one last taste of the open air. Go, little buddy! You’re free!

The video was originally posted by an Instagram user named Vice Aviator, who wrote, “After leaving the airport this morning after my flight training, I decided to go and be an AvGeek and go look for the 707 that was recently scrapped. After no luck, I made a u-turn and saw that a Learjet was about to meet its fate. Little did I know, it was going for one last flight... and not the flight I thought!”

Commenters on Reddit shared Vice Aviator’s enthusiasm. “When you lie on resume and say you can fly planes,” joked one. “You just know that the operator is making airplane noises in the cab,” added another. “As we get older the toys just get bigger and more dangerous,” observed a third.

At least we can say that plane’s probably still safer than a Boeing.
