Flesh-Eating Flies Are About to Invade Texas
I’m sure it’s fine.

If you’re in Texas, you might want to load up on bug spray and start wearing long sleeves. That’s because the Texas Department of Agriculture has announced that an invasion of New World Screwworms — aka flesh-eating flies — is imminent.
The good news? They don’t appear to target humans. The bad news? They target a lot of other stuff — specifically, cattle, a major part of both the Texas economy and American diets. In case you thought beef couldn’t get more expensive!
In order to prevent the devastation from getting *too* severe, the Texas Department of Agriculture has announced that they will be deploying a “scent lure” to attract the flies away from cattle. The problem? That scent smells like rotting flesh.
So, mixed bag here, Texas: The flesh-eating fly problem might be stopped, but your state is going to smell like animal carcasses for a while.
