Though the passengers aboard a recent Emirates flight may have been intending to travel from Dubai to Islamabad, they wound up taking a detour to fist city after an apparently drunk traveler decided to duke it out with crew members.

It’s unclear what factors beyond a few too many in-flight bloody marys led to the altercation, but whatever it was escalated quickly, the now-viral video of the incident depicting the tipsy traveler attempting to headbutt a crew member amid what appears to be a heated argument.
While at first, the flight attendant held his own, pushing the attacker away, several other airline staffers stepped in to help their colleague, tackling the alleged perp to the ground. He was then taken to the DIY drunk tank, staffers taping his hands together.
Yet it seems these hefty punishments may have been exclusive to the sky, one passenger aboard the flight speculating that the man may have gotten away with his unruly behavior.
“Drunk guy extremely violent. Restrained and handcuffed by Emirates cabin crew but I think Pak authorities let him go as he was well connected,” one passenger purportedly told reporter Amir Mateen.

So take it from this drunk passenger — if bar fights are your thing, maybe stick to edibles during your next long-haul trip … especially if you don’t have friends in the Pakistani government.
