For most people, getting an unexpected discount would make their day. For this guy, however, getting a discount left him suspicious — and so, he did what any red-blooded American would do: he pulled a gun on the drive-thru worker.
According to the employee, 38-year-old Howard Vernon, he took the man’s order for two sausage, egg and cheese croissants, a sausage biscuit and hash browns. This came out to around $8.
“He was like, ‘My order can’t be right, it should be like $11,’ and I’m like trying to explain to him that we had a promotion going on, and like it’s cheaper, and he started cussing and getting all loud, and I was like, ‘I don’t know what to tell you, I don’t know why you want to pay more money,’” Vernon told 13ABC.

The customer wasn’t having it. First, he sped off, only to return a few moments later with a gun in his hand. Vernon says the man also called him a racial slur, both of which are interesting moves to pull on the guy who’s trying to help you out.
“To know that somebody would do something like that just because I’m trying to give you a better deal and just to flip out like that, yes, it is scary,” Vernon explained.

Vernon says he hasn’t gone back to work since the incident, which, hey, I get it, man.
Police are still searching for the gunslinger in question, but no matter if they find him, Vernon says the incident has shaken his faith in humanity.
As he rightfully put it to 13ABC, “I don’t know why people are so angry out here at 9 o’clock in the morning.”
