A 20-year-old man has burns on around 35 percent of his body. The reason for these burns is that he was flushing down a poo when the toilet suddenly blew up.

To be clear, this has happened before, but usually, it occurs as a result of something else. For example, someone is using a poorly-wired toilet seat heater, or someone ignites a lighter while on the John. However, in this case, it appears that there was no initial spark that set off the blast. It was just deuce, turn, flush and boom.

Investigators are now looking into the incident. Although it’s clear how the pieces for this can happen — clogged pipes can lead to methane buildups, for example — no one knows why the explosion, which occurred in Greater Noida, India, actually happened.
