Helmets are a lot like toilet paper: You don’t think about it until you really, really, need it.
That’s the life lesson one unlucky cyclist discovered the hard way, hitting the road not only without a proper dose of protective headgear but while allegedly under the influence over the weekend.
In the now-viral clip one reportedly captured via dashcam last Sunday, the cyclist can be seen bringing a whole meaning to the old adage of “all gas no brakes,” barreling down the wrong side of a highway, opposing traffic be d—ned.
After several moments of speeding ahead, the biker finally faced the inevitable, smashing their vehicle head-on into the car in front of them, their body flying through the air upon impact. While it’s unclear whether either party involved in the accident were injured, we can only hope that both drivers are okay … and that the cyclist makes sure to have a helmet and a 0.0 BAC before hitting the road.
After all, to paraphrase Redditor u/PhilipSuckmourOffman, “protective flip flops” can only get you so far when it comes to a gnarly head-on collision.
