Have you heard of Power Slap? No? Well, according to Dana White, that’s a lie.
Power Slap is a competition started by White in which “fighters” slap the shit out of each other. Yes, it’s entertaining, but it’s also super dangerous — so dangerous, in fact, that it’s being used in universities to show what getting a concussion looks like. Great!
While Power Slap may be valued at $750 million (says White using god knows whose numbers), it hasn’t had the same impact that other sports like football or soccer have. Or has it?
Dana White on Power Slap: When you talk about numbers on views on this thing, take every sport on Earth, combine all their numbers together and multiply it by four, Power Slap beats it. Isn't that fascinating? pic.twitter.com/am5xfZG7Qf

In White’s words, “When you talk about numbers on views on this thing, take every sport on Earth, combine all their numbers together and multiply it by four, Power Slap beats it. Isn't that fascinating?”
Isn’t that unbelievable? As in, do you actually believe that shit?
Needless to say, this isn’t even close to true, at least according to any of the numbers that we have currently available. Power Slap’s most popular video on YouTube has 2 million views, while its most popular event on Rumble had just under 3.5 million — though Rumble’s viewership numbers are famously a bit suspect.
Regardless, even if we take all of the viewership numbers at face value, they don’t come close to certain one-off global sporting events. The 2018 FIFA World Cup brought in 517 million live viewers, and India regularly has cricket matches with viewership in the hundreds of millions.
But hey, if telling yourself that your weird sport is more popular than basketball is what gets you through the night, go right ahead.
