Were Britney Spears' massive breakdowns from 2004 to 2008 all just distractions to keep George W. Bush's approval ratings up? Well, according to this conspiracy theory, Spears was on the Bush Administration's payroll in order to clean up the president's image. And to be fair (if it were true) it kinda worked.

2004

Bush had just been re-elected for his second term in office when a member of his administration leaked the name of an undercover CIA agent. What was a massive news story ended up being overshadowed by Britney's wild weekend and subsequent marriage in Las Vegas.

Jason Alexander and Britney Spears were married for a grand total of 55 hours before having the marriage annulled. Did anyone care about Bush during this time?

2006

Vice President, Dick Cheney had just accidentally shot Texas attorney Harry Whittington while out on a quail hunt. Adding humiliation and embarrassment to the Bush administration. In order to stifle the story, Britney would make headlines just a few months later by almost dropping her baby. Once again taking attention away from Bush.

2007

The TikTok states that on the same day that Britney shaved her head - February 16th, 2007 - George Bush announced the "Reformation of Al-Qaeda." We have no idea what that actually means, as President Bush had a televised meeting with President Torrijos of the Republic of Panama that night. Either way, Britney was once again in the news.

It's hard to say whether or not this theory holds water. Some of the details don't match up. But it is striking that in November of 2008, right after President Obama was elected, Britney began her comeback. Her album, Circus was released on November 28th of that same year. She was then free of the Bush Administration.
