Organized and hosted by James River Church, a megachurch in Springfield MO, the Stronger Men’s conference emphasizes “going to battle” and “fighting” for the lord. The Stronger Men’s Conference is passionate about “helping men become all that God created them to be.”
The featured speakers at their most recent event featured John Lindell, Mark Driscoll, Tim Timberlake, and Jabin Chavez. Missouri Senator Josh Hawley was also involved and featured in a promotional video for the event.
In the name of the Lord, the tax-exempt conference started with a Monster Jam-esque opening ceremony backdropped by the American flag featuring guns, cage fighting, electric guitar shredding, BMX biking, crashing cars to the “Danger Zone” oh, and of course, a man dressed as Chuck Norris riding out onto the stage on a tank holding two prop machine guns.
At first glance, the retreat appears to function as a worship of masculinity and patriotism rather than a Christian church retreat. And at second glance, it seems like a behind-the-scenes look into the making of Idiocracy 2.
