Golden retrievers: A breed of dog famed for their soft golden coats, adorable smiles and the most loving personalities … that is until they get a taste of the forbidden fruit — a bag full of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos.
Lifestyle creator @josie_kamdan headed to TikTok with a glimpse at how a vending machine staple transformed Ben, her sweet, 11-year-old pup into a snarling, canine version of Chester Cheeto himself after getting a nibble of her spicy snack.
“My dog is eating Hot Cheetos out of the bag and he’s mad at me,” she began her now-viral clip, one depicting Ben guarding what appears to be a family-sized bag of the snack between his paws. “He’s actually so pissed.”
Despite repeatedly demanding that her pet stick to pup-appropriate snacks — “give me your hot Cheetos, you cannot eat them,” she said — Ben refused to listen, repeatedly growling, glaring and at one point, even bearing his teeth and barking at his owner.
While several commenters joked that this strange behavior was a result of Flamin’ Hot Cheetos’ most notorious ingredient — “RED 40 IS TAKING OVER,” wrote one viewer — a handful of dog lovers suggested that the incident could be an example of resource guarding, or pups being extra possessive of their belongings.
Though @josie_kamdan was ultimately able to safely snatch back her chips, this angry golden proves why Chester is a cheetah and not a sweet, docile dog.
