After racking up over 3.5 million views, Los Angeles-based comedian, Hope Schwing’s short TikTok found its audience. The video began circulating on Facebook and appeared on numerous pop culture websites, which all assumed it was legit. “I made this TikTok video. Obviously satire,” Schwing says in a follow-up video. “Who the f*** talks about themselves like that literally?” She goes on to joke, “I don’t think I’m that hot. I am a little hot though. I mean, I have fake boobs of course I’m a little hot.”

Hope Schwing an influencer with almost 10 million TikTok followers who posts content regularly to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, primarily in the form of short skits or jokes, and often satirical in nature. So when she posted a short five second clip stating that “No one talks about how hard it is to be literally so hot that you can’t get a boyfriend,” she probably thought it would be business as usual for her channel. It turns out, people have a hard time identifying satire.

Though instead of reacting negatively to the misplaced rage against her, Schwing couldn’t help but see the humor in it. “I have like 100 Karens calling me ugly and egotistical,” she laughs. “You know what? I love attention.”

And instead of deleting the clip, as many lesser content creators would, Schwing doubled down and released another similar video, lamenting “how difficult it is when everyone is so attracted to you.” It looks like she really does love the attention.
