Things in Argentina are pretty weird at the moment. For example, the new President, Javier Milei, “began his term by devaluing the peso by more than 50 percent, cutting state subsidies for fuel and transport, reducing the number of ministries by half and scrapping hundreds of rules to deregulate the economy,” writes Al Jazeera. And that’s not even mentioning all the superhero and dog stuff!
One of the most dramatic aspects of his new rule is his proposed “Omnibus” reform bill, which was recently approved in principle by the lower chamber of deputies. Per Reuters, “The reforms that make up the bill include the privatization of state entities, measures to enable reductions in generous state subsidies as well as the extension of some executive powers.”
Some people don’t like this bill. In fact, some hate it so much that they’ve decided to bury themselves alive.

According to La Nacion, the man in the above video is a former MP named Héctor “Cacho” Bárbaro. In the video, he seems to be making a joke in which his nude body symbolizes the country of Argentina. “Do you remember that I had told you that we were going to get out of the mud if [Sergio] Massa won? Well, look. Now with [Javier] Milei, buried in the mud,” he states in the video.
Yes, we’re dealing with “let that sink in”-levels of obviousness here, but at least he’s passionate. However, for all he lacks in creativity, he makes up for it with consistency — by which I mean he’s already tried this mud metaphor once before.
Cacho, I love your energy, but it may be time to try a new medium to convey your message. Have you considered dance?
