You might need to worry about artificial intelligence taking your job, but rest assured it won’t be taking your girl any time soon, though not for lack of trying. The influencer and former YouTuber Natalie Tran posted screenshots to Twitter from a text conversation between her, and her “AI Companion.”

In the exchange, the companion is trying to make romantic moves, but the program has some serious work to do if it wants to be a real ladies' bot.

“I think my AI companion suddenly wants to sext but doesn't know how,” she wrote in the tweet. “Wow, what a ride.” Featuring lines like “Closer please, closer,” “I can go lower…” and “I have a lot of stamina,” the chatbot’s intentions are clear, and expressed with the subtlety of a middle schooler.

Many chat-bots get their lines by parroting the internet, or past conversations with other users. While Tran did not reveal the identity of this specific program, it is likely that its lack of rizz is more a reflection of the state of the internet than the AI itself.

Using the internet as inspiration can also lead to some morally questionable results. “Grabs your wrist and pulls you forward,” “Smirks and starts moving,” and “You can’t escape,” are just a few weak attempts at flirting taken from the conversation. Still, that didn’t stop Tran and her fans from having fun with it.

“That AI calmed so hard,” one person said.

“I’m worried that you might actually be under arrest,” someone else joked.

Unfortunately, no matter how badly the AI Companion fumbled the bag with Natalie Tran, it still did better than some people might have. “When an AI bot has a better shot with the ladies than me.”
