Adult Children Are Begging Their Parents to Stop Spending Money So They Have More Inheritance

Stop buying all those fancy coffees and put more into your index funds!

With economic opportunities for young people today at a record low, some have looked to a new source of income: their parents.


This isn’t just “Hey, mom and dad, give me more money.” As reported by Bloomberg, this parent-farming has included everything from young people simply pressuring their parents to not spend as much money, to straight up blackmailing them.


For example, the article points to studies out of Australia in which seniors were pressured into signing over their property deeds under threat of losing the ability to see their grandchildren.


There are also numerous cases of young people not wanting to wait until their parents pass away to get the inheritance they feel they deserve — and so, they’ve demanded access to their parents’ savings accounts or retirement funds.


On the one hand, this is terrible. On the other, old people love giving their money away to random scammers — at least this time it’s their family!
