A female zoo iguana in the U.K. recently gave birth. This is pretty shocking because the iguana had never been with a mate before.

While this may sound impossible, it actually isn’t — at least, not for iguanas. The female casque-headed iguana was able to give birth to eight hatchlings owing to something called “parthenogenesis.” This is a natural reproductive process in which unfertilized eggs develop into embryos that are genetic clones of the mother, per CBS News.

The hatchlings are not only surviving but thriving, proving to be an interesting addition to the Exotic Zoo in Telford, England.

I guess they’re right that life finds a way!
