Marathons have a problem: There’s not enough booze.

Sure, the health-conscious among you may shudder at the thought of consuming any alcohol while running for 26 miles. If you think that, you’re not Tom Gilbey, who decided to spice up his London Marathon experience by drinking 26 glasses of wine over the course of his run.

Why did he do it? Honestly, he just likes wine — he’s a pretty big social media personality known for his love of, and expertise in, the alcoholic grape drink. However, he also had another reason for his actions as well: charity.

According to LBC, Gilbey opted to perform the stunt in part to bring attention to Sobell House, an organization that nursed and cared for his mother before she passed away. As of press time, he’s raised around £15,000 for the organization, equal to about $18,600 USD. Good work, Tom!

The big question is, how did he manage to finish the marathon while drunk on 26 glasses of wine? Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but unfortunately, he didn’t actually drink all of the wine that was set out for him. While he managed to down the first few glasses, he says his later tastes were simply sips.

That said, this gives me a great idea for a new sporting event: the drunk games. Running, jumping, shooting, throwing — whatever you want to do, you can do it, you’ve just gotta be pissed drunk. And hey, it wouldn’t be the craziest sporting event ever proposed.
