2 in 5 Americans Admit They’ve Used Paid Vacation Days to Stay in Bed
You guys get paid vacation days?

Workers in the United States don’t get a lot of vacation. While it’s not uncommon to hear Europeans discuss the month they plan on taking off to go to the Italian countryside, over in Freedomland, the average American gets just 11 days off — and more than half don’t even use all of it!
Plus, given how expensive everything is these days, the idea of planning a vacation could mean more financial stress than whatever relaxation such a vacation would provide. That’s why it’s not particularly surprising that many Americans are using their PTO not to travel, but just to sleep.
According to a new Amerisleep survey, 37 percent of Americans used their vacation days to simply rest at home rather than travel somewhere exciting.
Interestingly, those who made more money were more likely to use their PTO to sleep than those who made less. While some analysts say this points to the rising popularity of staycations, I’m going to argue that people *want* to do more, but can’t afford to. Make traveling to the beach for a week both possible and affordable, then maybe we won’t use our PTO to stay in bed!
