We’ve often discussed the concerning amount of people who are currently in a “relationship” with a computer program. This is concerning, considering today’s LLMs are neither sentient, nor even smart enough to tell you how many e’s there are in the word “cheesecake.”

However, it’s not just pathetic adults who are engaging in this absolutely pitiful behavior. As reported by NPR, even teenagers are getting in on this lame nonsense!

According to a recent survey, one in five respondents said they’ve either been in a romantic relationship with an AI or know someone who has. While this alone is sad, it gets even sadder when you learn that a full 42% of students surveyed say they or someone they know have used AI for companionship.

I know that shooting your shot as a teenager can be embarrassing, but I promise that it’s not nearly as embarrassing as thinking Google Gemini is your waifu.
